Opossums

- Not usually a problem animal, they will sometimes get into barns where they will defecate on the hay that livestock are going to eat. Due to being a carrier of Eastern Equine Encephalitis, it may be necessary to remove the animals if horses are around. Occasionally, opossums will gain entry into a home through an existing opening such as a crawlspace under the building or through a broken basement window. Most often, they are caught as incidentals when trapping skunks or raccoons.
